Do you bingsu?

Maybe you guessed by now, but I eat a lot of asian food...a lot.  But this one, oh my goodness, I am so glad that this little gem walked into my life.  Imagine if you will, an enormous soup bowl, filled with shaved ice, frosted flakes, ice cream, fruit syrup, condensed milk, mochi or tteok(korean mochi), and your choice of various fruits or sweetened red beans.  And here is what that might look like.

This epic dessert is a Korean creation called bingsu.  I prefer the fruit bingsu (shown above) over the one with beans, but that's just the American in me.  I'm slowly starting to like and appreciate sweetened bean paste.  You can find this tasty treat all over Atlanta in many Korean bakeries and cafes.  This is a pretty extravagant dessert, so we only really have this one a month.  But it is a real treat after a hearty dinner of Korean BBQ or Shabu Shabu.  Give it a try, I know you will like it!  The only problem is that some places only serve it during the summer, as it is an iced dessert.  One place I have found, Arte 3 Cafe in Duluth, serves it all year long.  They also have some pretty over the top dessert waffles that are worth checking out.

Do you have any epic desserts in Atlanta I should try?  Always on the look out for advice from you.

Until Next Time,

Guten Appetit!
